Photography has been an interest of mine right through my working career. I've sold camera equipment and been a hobbyist well before digital imagery took over and I still on occasion break out my 35mm and Medium format film cameras. When I was deciding on where to further my study of Design I wanted also to greatly advance my photography, which ultimately lead me to SIT where I was able to cover both disciplines at high academic levels. Being skilled in photography is a huge advantage to me as a designer, knowing what I want from an image to compliment a design project, using space and colour to match a theme and composing photographs for a specific design use.
I've exhibited photographic art work in galleries in Nelson and Invercargill and had images published in Magazines and Newspapers. A local restaurant recently published a cookbook for which I contributed much of the photography. My graduate work was an installation combining photography, design and audio production can be viewed here. I use a wide array of techniques and professional grade equipment to get impressive, high quality and thought provoking images. The rates for photographic services start at $65+gst per hour . |

Food & ProductsHaving worked in commercial kitchens and being a bit of a foodie, it's only natural that I've gravitated towards food photography. This kind of photography throws all kinds of new challenges at you, different surfaces, textures and especially colour and temperature.

People & PortraitsWorking at a busy inner-city bar provided me with some great event photography experience, the highlights being Minuit and Ladi6. I also enjoyed being the photographer and media guy for the 8 piece rhythm & funk band Soul Manor.
I've also dabbled in wedding photography, not a area I foresee myself doing a lot of but I love the opportunity to capture a really great portrait. |
